Another great find at the SoWa Open Market this past weekend in Boston was Amy Jensen, a Boston-based jeweler who makes her pieces out of found items. At the market she was showing her subway token jewelry elegantly laid out on wood blocks over subway maps from a variety of places.
I’m not sure where she collects all of these token but she has some from all over – large cities to small towns – all of whom have personality and history.
The one above is from Aliquippa, PA of all places but it’s such a great, classic design.
I have a soft spot in my heart for the one above – the perfect Boston T token. In every memory I have of being younger and going around Boston with my dad in particular the T token plays a large role. We used to have a bowl by the back door that my dad would dig through every morning to find a token amongst the change to use to get to work. When they switched to the card system it broke my heart a little but now I can wear the ring – with either the T or the back of the subway car facing out to remind me of those days.

I know you weren’t telling people about the blog yet, but Mom can’t keep a secret. I love the story about the subway ring and the style of the blog in general, like a real adult.
See you soon.
